Abstract

SIGAUD, Lygia; DIAZ, María Cecilia  and  OLIVEIRA RUFINO, Renata. Doxa and belief among anthropologists. Rev. Mus. Antropol. [online]. 2021, vol.14, n.2, pp.00-00. ISSN 1852-060X.  http://dx.doi.org/http://doi.org/10.31048/1852.4826.v14.n2.32091.

Abstract In order to explain how an interpretation becomes hegemonic and how collective beliefs are reproduced, the article focuses on the reception of Marcel Mauss’s The Gift and of Malinowski’s diaries. The comparison between the cases allows us to examine the foundations of the credibility attributed to certain interpreters, as well as the dynamics of the structuring and diffusion of a doxa.

Keywords : Doxa; Marcel Mauss; Malinowski; Anthropology.
