General features of the scientific production developed at the Section 'Medical Genetics' of the Centre for Medical Education and Clinical Research in Buenos Aires (CEMIC) during twenty years are presented here. In the field of human reproduction they covered embryo loss, prenatal diagnoses of genetic disorders and foetal malformations, epidemiology of congenital defects, pathologies due to anomalies of sex chromosomes and, lately molecular oncology of breast and ovary.
