The present investigation explores psychological aspects related to private car driving. As regards the theoretical basis, on the one hand, the concepts of "expert driver" and "safe driver", extracted from Traffic Psychology, were differentiated and, on the other hand, diverse hypotheses were considered with reference to this activity derived from the Psychoanalytic Theory. The field research consisted of 20 semistructured interviews taken to key informants, who qualified as "experts", whereas detection of the category "safe" implied new developments that contributed significant elements to the study. This purpose justified the selection of the sample, the narration of a suffered accident. The results presented were obtained from the sample analysis by means of a) an analysis of congruence based on the Traffic Safety Strategy (TSS) and b) the methodology of psychoanalytic investigation David Liberman Algorithm (DLA).
