The first part of this article describes the present research on the style of attachment in preschool children between three and five years old and their mothers or primary caregivers and then proceeds to explain the process of sampling, which includes data collection and its preparation. Besides, the article describes the link between attachment theory as theoretical support to the research and its consistency with the definition of the sample. For that purpose, a description of the preschool attachment assessment method as a tool for data collection and an explanation of the concept‘multiproblematic families' as theoretical basis of the sample are required. Finally, specific aspects of the sample, such as the use of films in laboratory situation and the classification method for style of attachment will be discussed.
