Abstract

DURANGO, María Isabel. Study of libidinal drives and defenses mechanisms manifested through discourse of politically active women in Ecuador. Subj. procesos cogn. [online]. 2010, vol.14, n.1, pp.55-78. ISSN 1852-7310.

This investigation intends to study drives and defenses mechanisms manifested through discourse of women political activists in Ecuador. The article begins with a brief presentation of the method used: the David Liberman Algorithm designed to detect libidinal drives and defenses through discourse analysis. Words and narration are taken as two of the research stages. Furthermore, a brief explanation of the theoretic foundations of the method and research will be given. Theoretic foundations are based on Freudian assumptions that imply the concepts of libidinal drive and defense mechanisms. The third part of this article focuses on three case analysis that deal mainly with the Secondary Oral, Secondary Anal and Genital Phallic drives as well as with the defenses in accordance with the goal and disavowal. Finally, some conclusions are presented on a provisional basis since the research is still in progress.
