Abstract

In the present study, the authors accomplish a conceptual screening regarding depression, emphasizing on the effective features of depressive states as mental problems, according to different theoretical frames. After that, they mention research carried out in the last years regarding scientifcally validated treatments that are actually available. Concerning this issue, they draw attention to the fact that as depression began to be conceived as a chronic and recurrent illness, the causal theories and treatments proposed focused mainly on the specifc factors that lead to psychotherapy being not only an effective practice but also more effcient in the treatment of affective disturbance.
