This article integrates the results from a study on gender and sexuality beliefs that permeate the practices of sexual education in educational institutions in Novo Hamburgo, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Firstly, in order to tackle the subject on sexual education, we took into consideration theoretical contributions, purposely those grounded on cultural studies and gender theories, as well as results from current researches on the topic. Then, qualitative results obtained from the interviews with teachers of the fifty six public schools are presented.
