Abstract

STEIN-SPARVIERI, Elena. Beliefs and attitudes concerning disability in different countries of America and Europe. Subj. procesos cogn. [online]. 2012, vol.16, n.1, pp.218-244. ISSN 1852-7310.

The present article studies the discourse of associations for the disabled web pages, in countries of America (Argentina, Brazil, the United States and Canada) and Europe (France, Spain, Italy, United Kingdom). The purpose is to establish relations between the actors of the associations for the disabled, message addressees in particular, and society in general. The methodology used is the David Liberman algorithm (DLA). The article considers in the first place the relation between discourse of a human group, as is that of members of an association for the disabled, and the collective attitudes and beliefs of a given country. After detailing the research bases, results for each of the countries studied are mentioned and, lastly, results obtained are compared and contrasted against the sociopolitical profile of the countries studied.
