Abstract

CORONEL, Carolina. Comparative study of the defenses found in the discourse of an adolescent presenting severe addiction pathology. Subj. procesos cogn. [online]. 2013, vol.17, n.1, pp.70-96. ISSN 1852-7310.

The present article is part of the on-going research of a PhD thesis, which analyses systematically wishes, defenses and their state in discourse, using the DLA methodology. The sample consists of a clinical case of an institutionalized adolescent addicted to drugs. On this occasion, the level of analysis of the narrative sequences is used in order to detect defenses regarding themes of relationship with both parents. A comparative analysis of defenses concerning each parent leads to observe that the dominant defense is denial, in discourses concerning the father as well as in discourses concerning the mother. As regards the state of the defense, there are significant differences, since the ones concerning the mother are successful and those concerning the father failed.

Keywords : Wish; Defense mechanism; Disavowal of the affect; Denial; DLA; Narrative sequences.
