Abstract

RICALDI DA ROSA, Lutiana. Application of the assimilation of problematic experiences scale and its contributions to a clinical case study. Subj. procesos cogn. [online]. 2013, vol.17, n.1, pp.232-243. ISSN 1852-7310.

The present study centers on the analysis of a clinical case using the Assimilation of Problematic Experiences Scale-APES. The scale was developed by Stiles and his collaborators (1990/1991 in Gabalda, Serrano, Fauls& Sabater, 2011). The purpose of the scale is to identify the patient´s stage of evolution in the therapeutic process, so that assistance can be provided in subsequent phases of intervention. The chosen case refers to the 13th clinical session of a 23 year-old male drug-abuser patient. The patient´s narrative sequence proves to be in accordance with that described on level 4 of the therapeutic process (Number 3. Problem account / Clarification), characterized by problem avowal and by proving less influenced by the dominant voices, in this case as regards the patient placing himself in a sacrificial position.

Keywords : Therapeutic process; Drug addiction; Defenses.
