Abstract

SNEIDERMAN, Susana. Is the Desiderative Questionnaire a suitable technique to detect drives and defenses in the pathologies of helplessness?. Subj. procesos cogn. [online]. 2013, vol.17, n.1, pp.274-290. ISSN 1852-7310.

This article presents part of a PhD thesis research whose main objective was an update of the interpretation indicators of a well-known verbal projective technique widely used in our environment: the Desiderative Questionnaire. We value this projective technique because we believe it to be part of a mediating instrument that allows access to a certain level of subjectivity, on one hand, and because it allows to research in depth and breadth wishes or erotogenicities as well as defenses, on the other hand. Although this technique is appreciated within the psychodiagnostics area, it lacks background in research and application of indicators interpreting traits and defenses related to the pathologies of helplessness. We propose to investigate if the present technique is appropriate to detect drives and defenses in the mentioned pathologies. We’ll mainly focus on how individuals with somatic vulnerability express themselves through the mentioned instrument. We will aim to present the differential characteristics in the type of verbal and para-verbal language as well as in the symbolic choices of the Desiderative Questionnaire. In order to achieve this aim we´ll strive to link the theoretical Freudian categories, taking into account David Maldavsky’s DLA method contributions. We have associated erotogenicities, defenses, character traits and have aimed to corroborate the inferences by applying the DLA to the same material as concurrent validity. Results obtained proved very positive. These derivations are expected to widen the differential and diagnostic scope criteria of the different languages of eroticism through the Desiderative Questionnaire from a new theoretical standpoint, contributing validity and reliability to the technique.
