In the present case-control study the relationship between adolescent offender behavior and social skills was analyzed. The sample consisted of 203 adolescents of the region of Quixeramobim, Ceará, Brazil. The Social Skills Inventory for Adolescents (Del Prette) and a semi-structured questionnaire were applied and the following variables were compared: current school adolescent situation, schooling level, family income, education level of the person responsible for the adolescent, drug involvement and social skills. The logistic regression statistical model allowed to calculate the occurrence probability of the offending behavior which was 5% and other variables as follows: schooling level (p<0.001), involvement with drugs (p<0.001), self-control (p=0.001) and assertiveness (p=0.046). Transgressive adolescents showed considerable difficulty responding or anxiety in the communication of behaviors related to self-control (p=0.001) and assertiveness (p=0.046). The research showed schooling level, involvement with drugs and social skills can influence the transgressive behavior of adolescents greatly.
