Abstract

TAVARES, Livânia Beltrão. Coping strategies of adolescents diagnosed with dyslexia in this stage. Subj. procesos cogn. [online]. 2016, vol.20, n.1, pp.38-56. ISSN 1852-7310.

This article is part of an ongoing research based on a cognitive approach, which aims to analyze the coping strategies in adolescents of both sexes, aged from11 to 18, diagnosed as suffering from dyslexia a year before. The sample is composed of 60 adolescents. The instrument used for the evaluation of strategies is the IMCA- 43 (Multifactorial Coping Inventory for Adolescents). In this article, in addition to elaborating on these themes, we will present the conceptual framework and the state of the art on the subject. The presentation of the methodology that includes a pilot sample allows to reflect on information which supplements information supplied by other authors, concerning changes in coping strategies as adolescents acquire a better understanding of dyslexia.

Keywords : Coping strategies; Adolescence; Dyslexia.
