Abstract

FORTES BUSTAMANTE NETO, Geraldo. Symbolic features manifested in dreams of children suffering from cancer. Subj. procesos cogn. [online]. 2016, vol.20, n.1, pp.82-99. ISSN 1852-7310.

This article is based on an ongoing investigation centered on the symbolic features of dreams of children with cancer, tackled from a Jungian perspective. The research aims to study symbolism present in the dreams of a sample of children aged 8 to11, suffering from cancer. The methodology chosen to categorize the symbols is the Bardin content analysis. The focus of this article is the state of the art of the research. To contextualize the state of the art, the problem that led to undertake this research as well as the main theoretical concepts that form the conceptual framework and also the objective of research and methodology applied are described briefly. The conclusion allows to reflect on dream symbolism in relation to the organic and psychological states of children suffering from severe organic pathology.
