Abstract

ACEVEDO, María José. Institutional psychology within a clinical perspective. Subj. procesos cogn. [online]. 2016, vol.20, n.2, pp.17-40. ISSN 1852-7310.

This text aims at addressing the thoughts of those who, for several decades, have been devoting themselves to the practice of intervention / research in the field of organizations. This practice is a clinical one insofar as it aims to clarify and understand latent conflicts; it´s clinical practice insofar as, by means of field-tested strategies, professionals involved assist institutional groups in the process of elucidating meanings concerning occurrences producing mental suffering; in addition it is clinical practice insofar as its explicit purpose is to contribute to the mental health and development of individuals who consult. Institutional psychology, positioned at the convergence of the subjective and the social, is a field for researchers who share, as the article states, an interest in the study of certain phenomena of a collective sort whilst acknowledging confrontation due to particular experiences in the field, which result in theoretical debates.

Keywords : Institutional psychology; Clinical perspective; Intervention/research.
