Resumen

LAURIA, Mónica Rosa. Social representations of psychology students regarding the psychology profession. Subj. procesos cogn. [online]. 2016, vol.20, n.2, pp.41-54. ISSN 1852-7310.

Social representations are formed by cognitive systems in which it´s possible to recognize stereotypes, opinions, beliefs, values and norms which usually have a positive or negative valence regarding different objects. They´re constituted, in turn, as code systems, values, classifying standards, interpretive principles and practice guidance that define the so-called collective conscience, which is governed by norm enforcement presenting a vision of the world. They set the standards for overcoming long-standing conflicts between individuals and society. Consideration of the psychologist profession implies this representational framework. From this standpoint, interviews to students who study psychology are undertaken, in order to explore their representation of the profession. We also examine how this representation of the profession changed over time in the social imaginary, given the changes of title incumbencies and the social-political processes lived in our country.

Palabras clave : Social representations; Students; Psychologist profession.
