Resumen

SILVA, M. P. et al. Nutritious assesment of the fruit of the algarrobo blanco (Prosopis chilensis) under different storage types. Multequina [online]. 2000, vol.9, n.1, pp.65-74. ISSN 1852-7329.

The fruits of the Prosopis spp. are considered important human and animal nutritional resources in arid and semi-arid regions of the world The importance of this fruits used as forage in the study area, lies on its nutritious value, that stored can be used during the winter time for the supplementation of domestic animals. The objective of this work was to determine the effect of different types of storage on the nutritious quality of the fruit of Prosopis chilensis throughout the time in order to be used like forage supplement for goats. A complete randomized design with 4 storage treatments and 3 replicates of each was performed, in which it was used, a "troja" without protection (1) and hermetic tins in which there were used branches and leaves of atamisqui (Capparis atamisquea) (2), basil (Ocimiun sp.) (3) and aluminum phosphate (4), to prevent the proliferation of bruchids. The period of storage was from the harvest of fruits (January) to the winter critical time (June). During the stored time the bruchid damage was evaluated and the nutritious value of the fruit was estimated by determining fat matter (MG), total ashes total, proteins total, digestibility, neutral detergent fiber (FDN) and acid detergent fiber (FDA) contents. From the obtained results it can he concluded that atamisqui and the basil demonstrated the same efficiency in the control of insects that the commercial insecticide. The stored fruits with insectífugous plants maintained the same chemical and physical values without significally differences (P<0,05) of quality, that whit the treatment with insecticide, this permit replace the use of products of high toxicity with insectífugous plants, diminishing health risks and storage costs. Given the meager results obtained the chemical and physical analyses of way traditional storage "troja" the use of closed tins is recommended with the aggregate of insectífugous plants.
