Abstract

CEI, José M.  and  VIDELA, F.. A rare species of Liolaemus (Reptilia, Tropiduridae) from the cuyo herpetofauna, with trans-cisandean distribution. Multequina [online]. 2001, vol.10, n.1, pp.35-42. ISSN 1852-7329.

The general biogeographic distribution of Liolaemus gravenhorsti, a characteristic Chilean species, and its two unique findings in Cuyo, Valle Hermoso (Mendoza) and Calingasta (San Juan) are analyzed. In spite of scarce available data for such a rare taxon, morphological features of their reduced samples are compared. Significant inter-populations differences and relationships of this peculiar cistransAndean lizard, with similar populations from Northern and Southern Chile, are pointed out.

Keywords : Biogeography; Systematic; Lizards; Morphological differentiation; Andean Cordillera.
