Abstract

PINCHEIRA-DONOSO, Daniel  and  NUNEZ, Herman. Liolaemus robertoi, a new species from the Andean range of northern Chile belonging to the Ruibali group (Iguania: Tropiduridae: Liolaeminae). Multequina [online]. 2003, vol.12, n.1, pp.01-15. ISSN 1852-7329.

A new species of the ruibali group is reported and described, from the Andean mountains of Fourth Administrative Region, Chile. The new lizard was previously confused with the Argentinean species Liolaemus vallecurensis. Liolaemus robertoi sp. nov. can be distinguished from any other species of the ruibali group because of its different character combinations, with 85-94 scales around midbody, anterior margin of auditory meatus with slightly enlarged scales, and totally different coloration. A hypothetical zoogeographic analysis allows to relate L. robertoi sp. nov. with the cisAndean lizard Liolaemus rosenmanni.

Keywords : Liolaemus robertoi; Tropiduridae; Liolaeminae; Ruibali group; Chile.
