Abstract

The vegetation of the Ischigualasto Provincial Park was floristically (phytosociologically) studied. Ten plant communities were determined, all related to saline soils: Deuterocohnia longipetala community on sunny outcrops; Puya spathacea and Ramorinoa girolae on shady slopes; Larrea cuneifolia in areas covered with Quaternary material; Zuccagnia punctata on silt soils (tobas); Atriplex spegazzinii on compact clays; Celtis talaand Proustia cuneifolia along the banks of temporary rivers; Distichlis spicata and Halophyton ameghinoi in areas with runoff accumulation; Sporobolus rigens on saline sands; Flourensia leptopoda on less saline rocky slopes, andRamorinoa girolae forming Facies in different vegetation units.
