Resumen

ALCALA, Jorge et al. Schinus molle and Prosopis laevigata bark as indicator of atmospheric dust retention in five land uses, San Luis Potosí, México. Multequina [online]. 2010, vol.19, n.2, pp.33-42. ISSN 1852-7329.

The bark provides information that can be indicating of the impact generated by the changes of land use in the ecosystem. The capacity in the atmospheric dust retention was evaluated in samples of bark of mesquite (Prosopis leavigata) and pepper tree (Schinus molle) in two municipalities (Soledad de Graciano Sanchez and San Luis Potosí), that differ in the land use. For this, 30 points in a runner of 35,5 km were established, who was divided in five land uses: farming, rural residential, trade and services, urban residential and mining. The samplings were realised during 2009 and 2010 (summer, autumn, winter and spring). Following a Model General Lineal, α≤0,05 was considered to evaluate the possible effect of the site, species and season, as well as its possible interactions in the particulate matter sediments. It was obtained that the effects of the site (p=0,021), species (p=0,001) and season (p=0,000) were significant. In the urban residential zone the greater concentration with an average of 0,1902± 0,01 was observed (g/Kg of dry weight). The season with greater effect, turned out to be winter 2010 with an average of 0,1995±0,01 (g/Kg of dry weight). Mesquite was with greater capacity from adsorption, presenting an average of 0,1688±0,01 (g/Kg of dry weight). This information can contribute to evaluate the environmental impact of agroecosystems and technoecosystems inmersed in these municipalities.
