Abstract

BUAMDEN, Susana A.. Alimentación en pacientes terminales internados y su relación con los principios bioéticos: Feeding terminal patients in hospital and its relationship with bioethics principles. Diaeta [online]. 2009, vol.27, n.129, pp.7-10. ISSN 1852-7337.

The aim of this work is to ponder over the right of the terminal patient to decide on his/her type of feeding - and on the possible request by such patient not to be fed at all -, and the questions these decisions can bring about within the professional team in charge of the patient's care within the framework of a health institution. Additionally, some bioethics principles are set forth regarding this issue, which can bring light as to the appropriate therapy to follow in these cases.

Keywords : Bioethics principles; Terminal patient; Forced feeding; Food choice.
