Abstract

GONZALEZ, María Amalia. Safety in the National Plan for Food and Nutrition Security: assessment-oriented analysis of the concept. Diaeta [online]. 2013, vol.31, n.145, pp.15-21. ISSN 1852-7337.

Proper human nutrition, which allows a complete state of health, cannot be only understood as the act of consuming food; there are various factors involved, one of which is safety. The present work aims to analyze the Argentine law N° 25.724 created by the National Plan for Food and Nutrition Security and interchange it with food safety concepts. The objective is to highlight the importance of food safety along all the food chain, from production to consumption. And that nutritional assistance should be comprehensive, not just focusing on providing food (or the means to obtain it) but also training people who are covered by the Plan. Education on food safety would help avoid associated diseases that could harm health as well as enforcing the objectives of the Law mentioned before.

Keywords : Food safety; Food security; National Plan for Food and Nutrition Security (NPFS).
