Abstract

BITAR, Iván; BRUNO, Pablo; BUSTOS, Damián  and  MARANGONI, Lucas. Arthroscopic treatment of displaced and comminuted greater tuberosity fractures. Rev. Asoc. Argent. Ortop. Traumatol. [online]. 2011, vol.76, n.3, pp.242-249. ISSN 1852-7434.

Background: Level IV, therapeutic case series. The purpose of this retrospective study was to evaluate the clinical results of arthroscopic treatment in patients with comminuted, displaced, greater tuberosity (GT) fractures with or without glenohumeral shoulder dislocation. The arthroscopic cannulated screw reduction and fixation is an efficient technique for this type of fractures. Methods: 10 patients with comminuted, displaced, greater tuberosity fractures were arthroscopically fixed with cannulated screws. The follow up was 18 months. We evaluated reduction and healing, postoperative pain, range of motion, and clinical results with the Rowe and ASES scores. Results: At final follow up all fractures had healed and patients reported minimum pain. The Rowe and ASES scores were acceptable. Conclusions: the arthroscopic fixation of comminuted, displaced, greater tuberosity fractures with cannulated screws can result in good clinical outcomes and satisfactory fracture healing.
