COMPAGNUCCI, Rosa Hilda y AGOSTA, Eduardo Andres. La precipitación de verano en el centro-oeste de Argentina y los fenómenos interanual El Niño/Oscilación Sur (ENOS) e interdecádico "tipo" ENOS. Geoacta [online]. 2008, vol.33, pp.97-103. ISSN 1852-7744.
Most of the interanual-to-multidecadal variability of the South American precipitation is attributed to the variability of the equatorial Pacific basin. The link between both is established through either 2-to-6-year El Niño/Southern Oscillation (ENSO) or the interdecadal El Niño-like variability (Díaz et al. 1998, Grimm et al. 2000, Grimm 2003, amongst other). Therefore, this study aims to examine the relationship between the interanual-to-multidecadal variability of the summer precipitation in Central-West Argentina, in South America, and both oceanic low-frequency processes. Results show that both at interanual scales (ENSO) and at lower scales (ENSO-like) there no exists link between the sea surface temperature in the equatorial Pacific and precipitation. Only the areas closer to the Southern American continent over the South Atlantic and South Pacific seem to be physically linked via atmospheric circulation. The southwestern South Atlantic has the highest variance explained.
