The aim of this paper is to analyse the mining and metallurgical practices in the Puna of Jujuy (Rinconada and Santa Catalina current departments) during colonial times, from a perspective which combines the historical, archaeological and archaeometrical methodology. We will focus in the analysis of a colonial mining-metallurgical installation registered in the region, Fundiciones 1. Based on this study, we will analyse the sociohistorical context during which this complex was in activity and its posible owners and workers. Therefore we will approach to these practices from the materiality they have generated and also from the written productions that have referred to them.
