Resumen
NACUZZI, Lidia R.. Ethnic groups and their territories near the Salado River frontier, Buenos Aires, 18th. Century. Poblac. soc. [online]. 2014, vol.21, n.2, pp.49-92. ISSN 1852-8562.
This paper analyses the interrelations between hispano-criollo government officials, native chiefs and ethnic groups that circulated and settled near the forts located around the Salado River, shaping the southern frontier (18th Century). The documentary sources labeled "Comandancia de Fronteras" offer data regarding the places where the native Chiefs usually settled, the areas they controlled, their trading and storage networks, their negotiations with different State agents, and finally the affinities and/or conflicts with other Chiefs or groups. The analysis of these issues will advance the discussion concerning territoriality and ethnicity of the indigenous groups from the Pampas.
