Abstract

SILI, Marcelo Enrique. Migration from the City to Rural Areas in Argentina: A characterization based on Case Studies. Poblac. soc. [online]. 2019, vol.26, n.1, pp.90-119. ISSN 1852-8562.  http://dx.doi.org/10.19137/pys-2019-260105.

Migration from the city to the countryside is a recent phenomenon in Argentina which mirrors what has been going on in Europe in the last two decades. By observing the country s general statistics one concludes that there is no empirical evidence concerning this movement. This situation calls for exhaustive fieldwork so as to be able to visualize the process. This rural renaissance is analysed in detail in several territories of Argentina by identifying forms, mechanisms as well as social and territorial logics of the phenomenon.

Keywords : Rural rebirth; Rural exodus; Technological change; Innovation.
