The growth of metalliferous mining in San Juan at the beginning of 2000, imposed new challenges upon the local workers aspiring to join the sector, especially due to their lack of experience, education and training in such field. This article aims to analyze empirical evidence about the different aspects related to the generation, appropriation and flow of knowledge in the mining production chain. In particular, it will address topics such as training and competencies, promotion possibilities, teamwork, autonomy and technology use, which are present in the mining interrelated facets.
