The article analyzes the occupational trajectories of 10 young male adults that reside in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires and the historical-economic context in which their working lives took place. The data comes from open interviews with people who had previously answered a random survey of 1,065 household members. The first part describes the cases, the theoretical perspective and the Argentine historical-economic context of the period studied. Subsequently, we analyze the beginning of their working life and the types of trajectories as inferred from the interviews, as well as the insertion into their respective economic activities and labor markets. The last part discusses the contribution of a case study to historical understanding and theory construction.
