Abstract

CORRAL, Wilfrido H. Vargas Llosa y la historia de las ideas: avatares de un esquema. Cuad. CILHA [online]. 2009, vol.10, n.2. ISSN 1852-9615.

This article defines the coordinates of Vargas Llosa's thought, arguing that his ideas, obviously inseparable from his narrative and the larger Western context, are not the subject of careful scrutiny.  The author's ideological consistency lies particularly in his purported "conservative turn," and generally in the self-criticism and independence that make him in part of a handful of influential public Latin American intellectuals in the West.

Keywords : History of ideas; Public intellectuals; Liberal Western thought.
