Abstract

BRASCA, Raúl. The eloquence of silence: About the ending in microfiction. Cuad. CILHA [online]. 2010, vol.11, n.2, pp.13-20. ISSN 1852-9615.

This article proposes to show that, in microfiction, the ending is the emanation of a silence that is constitutive of these texts. To justify this assertion, we have examined existing research on the nature of endings, and we have analyzed a handful of examples, many of which differ from the traditional narrative model. We conclude that the original hypothesis applies to all the types of microfictions normally published in anthologies, although it must be recognized that there exist some cases in which this inclusion becomes problematic.

Keywords : Microfiction; Endings; Eloquence.
