Abstract

LAERA, Alejandra. Into the Fair: the Value of Literature for Contemporary Argentine Writers. Cuad. CILHA [online]. 2014, vol.15, n.2, pp.21-37. ISSN 1852-9615.

In 2008 Sergio Chejfec published Mis dos mundos, and some other narratives of the so called "autobiographical turn" were also released, such as Inés Acevedo's Una idea genial, Diego Meret's En la pausa, and Laura Meradi's Alta rotación. All of them present writing scenes, explore their symbolic and material status, and design the image of the author. Nevertheless, narratives of young writers are different from Chejfec's: they are writing initiation narratives, texts whose authors emerge at the same time of their first books. What kind of relationship does there exist between those autobiographical narrations, and Mis dos mundos? In which ways do those young writers openly exhibit the self? How do they get involved in the market of symbolic goods?

Keywords : Value of literature; Argentine literature; Chefjec; Acevedo; Meret.
