Abstract

JOSIOWICZ, Alejandra. La imaginación ética: Un análisis de Varia imaginación, de Sylvia Molloy. Mora (B. Aires) [online]. 2010, vol.16, n.2. ISSN 1853-001X.

The essay analyzes Varia imaginación, by Sylvia Molloy -part of the current tendency to the autobiographical in literature- as an example of the ethical nature of the writing of the self. To that end, it reads Judith Butler ´s theorizations in Giving an account of oneself (2005). The subject gives an account of himself necessarily determined by the ethics that bound him to language and to the other by whom he is addressed. The article explores three ethical levels: ethic of form, ethic of space and ethic of address. Therefore, it reads Varia imaginación as a text that avoids an epic of triumph and shows the self in its fragments because it transforms the purely personal into the subtly political.

Keywords : Ethic; Writing of the self; Otherness.
