The present work analyses women's universe and the representations of women's reading and writing in Fray Mocho, a prototypical magazine of early twentieth century in Argentina. Among other topics, types of women's readings, advertising discourse, men's attitudes towards women's participation in the print culture of the time, textual horizon in the social and domestic spheres are presented in the article. Finally, the growing appearance and development of a variety of women's uses and practices to gain access to the print world is discussed.
