Abstract
PISCITELLI, Adriana. Migración, género y sexualidad: Brasileñas en los mercados del sexo y del casamiento en España. Mora (B. Aires) [online]. 2012, vol.18, n.2. ISSN 1853-001X.
In this article I consider how ethno-sexual frontiers interfere in the integration of Brazilian female migrants in the Spanish sex and marriage markets. Taking as reference ethnographic studies carried out since 2004 I analyze how those frontiers influence their social positions in a country where Brazilian women are highly visible in the sex industry and are also the main foreign women that marry with Spanish men. In this context, ambiguous gendered notions of Brazilianness racialize and sexualize these migrants and also associate them with domesticity, motherhood and care. These conceptualizations affect these women in differentiated ways, according to their social class and also their "color" and contribute to place low strata migrants in low paid and/or stigmatized jobs. However, far from being only markers of hierarchy and oppression these notions also contribute to create spaces for these migrants' agency.
