Basically, this paper exposes central aspects of S. Zizek and Judith Butler's debate on the problem of the "empty subject" in social sciences. To do so, it goes briefly through the origin of this discussion focused on the notion of "ideological interpellation", as it was exposed during the last 70, to confront afterwards both argumentations. Even in the end it must be admitted that Slovenian thinker has a good point in his argumentation, Butler's position is considered more appropriate to think contemporary subjectivity.
