GONZALEZ, Natividad M.. Aprovechamiento del espacio agrícola en la cuenca del río Huasamayo (departamento Tilcara, Provincia de Jujuy, Argentina). Zaranda ideas [online]. 2011, vol.7, n.2, pp.97-113. ISSN 1853-1296.
Huasamayo river basin (Tilcara department, Jujuy province) holds an important number of prehispanic structures for agriculture. This vast area (of 15000 ha) was approached through satellite images and field work, which allowed to obtain an idea of the characteristiques of agriculture land and the main irrigation sources. The formal and functional diversity of the agriculture structures arose, and so the location and the environmental conditions they face or make use of. Hillsides with arrangements for unirrigated crops, water retention structures associated with transitory habitation and pictography, fields with important amount of labor and other of expeditious facture were identified. Here we sustain that the use of the basin at prehispanic period was to multiply the opportunities for successful crops, since the internal diversity was privileged and the fields offered likewise the possibility of diversification at a wider territorial strategy.
