We analyze the Castilian-Indian law sources listed in doctoral thesis submitted to the Faculty of Law at the University of Buenos Aires in the 1861-1870 period; the handling of this law by the doctorate candidates; the frequency and form of the quotation; the institutions in which this law absolutely or relatively predominated, the criteria of interpretation, the role of custom, the doctrine with which the doctoral students were familiar, and so on.
