The present work is based on a judicial case on responsibility, developed from 1808 to 1824, against the magistrates of the Audiencia de Lima, under the charges of prevarication, bribery and misbehavior. The study of this case shows, on the one hand, how, despite deep political changes, the traditional judicial responsibility model remained; and, on the other hand, how those changes made a political use of the tools offered by this responsibility.
