ZAMORA, Romina. Acerca de las discusiones sobre el salario de las criadas: Algunas reflexiones sobre el orden jurídico local en San Miguel de Tucumán a fines del siglo XVIII. Rev. hist. derecho [online]. 2010, n.39. ISSN 1853-1784.

In 1794, the Defensor de Naturales of San Miguel de Tucumán made a presentation to the Cabildo explaining the situation of helplessness of the maids and justice requesting that they provide protection, noting the pay for them, and that their employers are obliged to comply. This presentation, together with the opinion of the síndico procurador and discussion chapter, and the resulting regulations do not concern only the just retribution but, above all, the domestic order and legal order of the city, as the subject on under discussion, ultimately, is as much about the condition of freedom of the gente de servicio to choose where to work, as the possibility of interference by the Cabildo in a domestic matter. The aim of this study is to observe social considerations on the domestic work of the gente de servicio o bajo pueblo from the discussion chapter of San Miguel de Tucuman and legal projections for this city.
