Abstract

REINA, Antonio Manuel Luque. From “Easing the King’s conscience” to report to the Government: transformations in the advisory role (Spain, 1834-1836). Rev. hist. derecho [online]. 2022, n.63, pp.124-146. ISSN 1853-1784.

This article aims to study the conceptual and institutional mutation that advisory role suffered in the Spanish State due to the dissolution of the Catholic Monarchy’s Councils in the 1830s. To do so, the text introduces, firstly, the context of the strong change of paradigm that the Spanish Monarchy underwent with the death of its last absolute protector, King Ferdinand VII. Secondly, it analyses the semantic and practical transformations that turned one of the main tools of government into an auxiliary role to the new power of the Spanish State: the administrative one.

Keywords : Advisory role; Public law; Spanish Monarchy; Royal Councils; Administrative law.
