This article analyses the mechanisms used by the Partido Justicialista of the Province of Santa Fe, Argentina, to remain in power in two particularly complicated electoral circumstances: the 1999 provincial elections, marked by the economic recession; and the 2003 provincial elections, within the framework of a representation crisis of all political parties. Although it is a case study, the article pretends to offer some clues to identify the Partido Justicialista's adaptative strategies that have allowed it to become one of the main political parties in Argentina.
