Abstract

MURILLO GALLEGOS, Verónica. Scotists filiations against the Council of Trent. Friar Juan Bautista de Viseo: Advertencias para los confesores (1600). Cuyo [online]. 2010, vol.27, pp.91-113. ISSN 1853-3175.

The missionaries of the XVI Century wrote works to help to the evangelization in America. We can found some thought's tendencies of that age in these works. The Franciscan Juan Bautista de Viseo's book Advertencias para los confesores de los naturales (1600) was wrote after the Council of Trent's end, but it persists in some contraries reforming positions. It shows that these tendencies in New Spain came from Duns Scoto's thought.

Keywords : Reforming tendencies; Scotism; Trent's ordinances; Evangelization in New Spain.
