Resumen

ARAVENA ZAMORA, Abel. Book trading and the Transmission of Philosophy to Hispanic Colonies: (16th to 18th Centuries). Cuyo-anu. filos. argent. am. [online]. 2014, vol.31, n.2, pp.33-61. ISSN 1853-3175.

The transmission of philosophy to the Americas can be traced through the examination of the commercial networks that provided the first colonial libraries with books. These vast collections contained various philosophical and humanistic works that were a key factor in the promotion and the development of written culture and education. Reviewing some aspects on trading, book inventory and the collection of related works in the first private and religious libraries, the main goal is to reconstruct, at least in its characteristic features, the development of philosophy in the New World.

Palabras clave : Book Trading; Colonial Libraries; Transmission of Philosophy; Hispanic American Historiography.
