Abstract

ARGUELLES CISNEROS, Juan. About an anthology of contemporary peruvian philosophy. Cuyo-anu. filos. argent. am. [online]. 2022, vol.39, n.1, pp.221-246.  Epub Nov 07, 2022. ISSN 1853-3175.

The philosophical production in Peru has been structured since its inception by imitative patterns of thought. From scholasticism to the philosophy of praxis, not only have multiple oppositions damaged the desire to originally set up a Latin American culture based on rational thought, but also external problems have arisen in which philosophy is found as a foreign actor against citizenship.

Under this historical horizon, the purpose of the article is to review and expose the most important points of the new anthology edited by Rubén Quiroz (2019), in which the thought of thirteen philosophers appears (Francisco Miró Quesada, Augusto Salazar Bondy, David Sobrevilla, María Luisa Rivara, José López Soria, Edgar Montiel, José C. Ballón, Juan Abugattás, Teresa Arrieta, Augusto Castro, Pablo Quintanilla, Víctor Mazzi and Zenón Depaz).

These contemporary thinkers have not only broadened the philosophical discussion around the dilemma of what significance "what is American" has in terms of the constitution of their own philosophy; they have also taken the name of Peru to the international front. In this sense, the richness of the heterogeneity given in recent years justifies the attempt to summarize in this brief article the still intense battlefield of philosophical discourse in Peru.
