Abstract

The paper essays the relations between the emergence and development of the technologies for recording and playback of sound, and the ways in which these innovations are intertwined with the production of music and sound art, highlighting the issue of cultural conditions as determinants of production practices. From this subject the paper aims to discuss some traditions that inhabit naturalized social discourses regarding the association of the technological progress and the linear account of technical inventions.
