Despite being one of the most obvious problems in the Argentine book ecosystem and having decisive consequences on the circulation of books throughout the country, the regional imbalance is one of the least considered topics by the book’s actors and the book and publishing studies. In the case of the university presses, this problem has specific features that justify its analysis. In this sense, the article aims to address the effects of the clear concentration of publishers, bookstores, distributors and other actors of the book, in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires, on the modes and possibilities of production and circulation of books published by university presses.
