Abstract

This publication brings together different research works that address, from different disciplines, the way in which images (photography, painting, multimedia art, advertising) connect ideas to impact the world. The authors address the image as a creator of meaning and propose approaches that allow an aesthetic, sociological and semiotic approach to the reading of visual representations. At the same time, the objective of the works presented here is aimed at recognizing the role that images have operated and continue to operate, in shaping social perceptions related to society, identity and social conflict. In this way they contribute theoretical and methodological elements that facilitate the understanding of the social and cultural aspects involved in the processes and products of aesthetic practice.
