This article seeks to reflect on certain issues that occur at the intersections between fear, citizenship and urban space from data obtained from research in the city of La Plata. How do people live in the city with fear? What is the role of fear in shaping the modes of belonging to a particular group? Ultimately, what is the relationship between fear and citizenship? The fear in the city poses difficult dilemmas for citizenship: the practices that generates directly undermine or deny motivates forms of "citizen participation" is at least ambivalent, transforms the same to others who, according to the intensity, they fears are kept at a distance, are avoided, were ejected. Ultimately, fear in the city set a specific type of citizenship, at times paradoxical, as would their denial.
